We just got back from the 2007 State of Downtown Economic Forum at the Westin. This was a great chance to preview the growth that is projected in the next five years, and the impact of issues currently surrounding our city: the viaduct, light rail, new construction, and economic outlooks.
The event was hosted by the Downtown Seattle Association and the City of Seattle.
Keynote speakers were: Mayor Nickels, Kate Joncas (President, DSA), Chris Ludeman (President, CB Richard Ellis) followed by a panel discussion moderated by the Emory Thomas JR. (Publisher, PSBJ). On the panel was Jack Farris, PHD (President, Washington biotechnology and biomedical association) Matthew Gardener (Principal, Gardener Johnson LLC) and Carla Murry (SR VP Operations NW/Western Canada Region, Starwood Hotels).
Also present on the panel was Chris Ludeman.
The event will be aired on the Seattle Channel, check http://www.SeattleChannel.org for showtimes. I strongly urge you to watch this discussion, it sheds new light on views of the cities' economic focus on a worldwide level.
